Michał Dembiński

Michał Dembiński studied at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw.
He was a member of the Association for Supporting Theatre Initiatives, as an actor, scriptwriter and co-author of music for several original performances by children and youth.
He is one of the originators of the Concentus male ensemble, focusing on the performance of Gregorian chant, Renaissance polyphony, early Baroque music, as well as pieces from the borderline of pop music (interwar period).
An important place in his artistic activity is occupied by chamber music, in particular the work of Franz Schubert and other composers of the Romantic period. For almost a decade, the artist’s main field of activity has been the performance of Baroque music.
During his studies, he made his debut at the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera, in the play “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” by Benjamin Britten, as Spock.
His most important theatre and operatic roles include: “Cezary Goes to War” as Cezary, directed by Cezary Tomaszewski, Komuna Warszawska “The Rape of Lucretia” as Collatinus, dir. Kamila Siwińska, Miskolc Festival “Vanda”, A. Dvořák, as Velkokněž, dir. Karolina Sofulak, Opera Rara – Kraków “The Magic Mountain”, P. Mykietyn, as Wehsal, dir. Andrzej Chyra, Malta Festival – Poznań; “Victory over the Sun”, S. Wojciechowski, as Alexei Kruczynoch, dir. Krzysztof Garbaczewski, Teatr Wielki National Opera in Warsaw “Mahagonny. Afterparty” K.Weill/K.Głowicka – as Jimmy/businessman, dir. Krystian Lada, Teatr Studio
He collaborates on a regular basis with leading European ensembles specializing in performing baroque music, including: : Collegium 1704, Le Poeme Harmonique,
Capella Cracoviensis, Baroque Collegium 1685.
As a soloist and ensemble singer, he took part in many music and theatre festivals, such as: Misteria Paschalia, Bregenzer Festspiele, Bachfest Leipzig, Sacrum Profanum, Malta Festival, La Chase Dieu Festival, Festival d`Automne, Bach Festival in Świdnica and many others.
A laureate of national and international vocal competitions, including: 1st place and distinction during the 10th Inter-university Competition for the Performance of Polish Songs named after Edmund Kossowski in Warsaw, 1st place and distinction for the best bass voice during the 3rd International Competition in Ueckermunde (Germany), distinction at the 14th “In the Circles of Slavic Music” Competition in Katowice.
Michał Dembiński has been collaborating with Baroque Collegium 1685 since 2019, performing both solo and choral parts in oratorio and cantata works by Bach, Handel and Telemann.
