Baroque Explorations Festival

Festival

Baroque Explorations, initiated in Szczawnica/Poland by Agnieszka Żarska in 2011, quickly became an inspiring space for meeting baroque music and art at a unique local – international level.

The establishment and development of Baroque Collegium 1685 is inextricably linked with the history of this Festival.

The festival is an undertaking that combines the presentation of ambitious stage and oratorio-cantata projects in the historical informed performance approach with consistent and generous fulfillment of the mission of popularizing music among a wide audience, including the youngest recipients.
It is characterized by openness to cooperation with centers located far from large cultural centers, with difficult access to high-class events with the participation of baroque music stars.

Baroque Collegium 1685 is the ensemble resident of the international Baroque Explorations Festival.

Baroque Explorations is a festival of premieres. The vast majority of the presented events are prepared especially for the Festival, including contemporary world premieres of stage and instrumental works. Since 2014, the Festival has been cooperating regularly with the Musica Florea Praha ensemble and the unique Florea Theatrum project, initiated and led by Marek Štryncl.

The Festival concerts took place in many centres in Poland and abroad. Baroque Explorations are developing thanks to fruitful cooperation with cultural institutions, organisations and private entities in various regions of Poland.

The 2019 and 2020 editions were awarded the prestigious EFFE Label certificate, awarded to exceptional cultural undertakings by an international group of Festival organisers.
