About the CD Album: BAROQUE COLLEGIUM 1685 LIVE

The CD Album include selected fragments of recorded Baroque Collegium 1685 concerts from 2017-2023, with the participation of nearly one hundred artists from nine European countries, including excellent soloists.

Concerts took place in historic interiors in various regions of Poland: Warsaw (Holy Trinity Church), Przemyśl (Archiccathedral), Bielsko-Biała (Evangelical-Augsburg Church), Szczawnica (Gościnny Manor), Jaworki (St. John’s Bapt. Church), Biecz (Collegiate Church) and in Szczawno-Zdrój (Spa Theatre). The concert projects were organized and led by the founder and artistic director of Collegium – Agnieszka Żarska.

CD I includes German-language works by Johann Sebastian Bach and Georg Philipp Telemann: selections from Cantatas and excerpts of Bach’s oratorios, which were broadcast on Polish TV Culture. Most of them are performed and the first time recorded in Poland. In addition to the Baroque Collegium 1685 Chorus and Orchestra, the main character of the first CD is one of the best interpreters of Bach’s music in the world, an outstanding singer – Peter Kooij.

CD II contains selections from two great musical masterpieces of the patrons of the Baroque Collegium 1685 – Johann Sebastian Bach and George Friedrich Haendel; a selection from the  “Saul” Oratrio HWV 53 recorded in Poland for the first time, with Peter Kooij in the title role, and excerpts of Missa BWV 232 – „Mass in B minor” by J.S.Bach, with the participation of the famous countertenor Andreas Scholl.

The CD Album, containing high-quality, first recordings of baroque music masterpieces in Poland, presents high artistic and documentary value. The presence of world-renowned baroque music artists among the performers, makes this limited edition unique.
